RINGING IN CHRISTMAS @THE OPEN AIR JAIL (Sun 15th Dec’13)

Christmas festivities at the Cherlapally – an open air jail, was a unique initiative spear-headed by the Catholic Church Prison Ministry, but was ably supported by our students who presented a variety of cultural programs much to the entertainment of the inmates. Our students put up a traditional welcome dance, sang bhajans and Christmas carols and a skit on moral values that was followed by jokes.

The inmates at the jail were overjoyed with all that was being done for them. But, the best part was that they surprised us too with their singing talents. Towards the end, they thanked us immensely as Christmas goodies were being distributed by our very own student dressed as Santa. Our students too had a well-deserved break and understood how we could brighten-up other people’s lives with just a smile and a kind word of appreciation.
